The (Not Yet Ultimate) Girls Can Blog - FAQ

Annina answers frequently asked questions like: What's your email address? How do I submit an interview to GCB? Can I deeplink to specific posts on the site? And, by the way, is GCB a feminist blog?

SUBMITTING AN INTERVIEW

I'd like to send you an email. What's your email address?

Please mail all inquiries and blog suggestions to: girlscanblog [at] googlemail [dot] com.

I have a blog, too. Can I just answer the standardized questionnaire and mail it in?

Sure, please do, I am constantly looking to portray women of all ages that write interesting blogs. Don't forget to include two images - one portrait of yourself and one other that represents you or your blog. These are very important: No images, no interview!

Bear in mind, though, that there is no guaranteed publication of your interview, as GIRLS CAN BLOG is an edited blog magazine. It might also take a while for me to get back to you. This means nothing other than that I am busy, please just remain patient.

Do you have any tips regarding the filling in of the questionnaire?
Take your time to fill in the questions. This is the Internet, your answers will be visible to everyone for a long time.

The older, more thought-through and original your blog is, the higher your chances to be introduced. If you're new to blogging and still lack a clear profile, don't get discouraged if I tell you to try again later. I'm very interested in what you do and think you should keep on blogging!

What kind of people and blogs are you looking to portray exactly?
That's a good question. I've tried to answer it previously here.

I'm a woman who blogs as part of a wider team that includes men. Is that a problem?
Absolutely not, sounds like a great blog project! Why don't you submit a questionnaire?

I don't like to show my face. Can you make an exception on the images for me? Just that once? Please?
If you're uncomfortable about revealing your real life identity, be creative. Draw yourself, like Anne Feldkamp did. Or show us your back, like Angela did. In any case, I'll stick by my rule: No images, no interview!

PHILOSOPHY

Is GIRLS CAN BLOG a feminist blog?
If feminism is defined as the right to enough information available to every single woman so that she can make a choice to live a life which is not discriminatory and which works within the principles of social, cultural, political and economic equality and independence, then yes.

The same holds true for every single man, of course.

FLATTR

What's that Flattr counter thing in the top right corner of this blog?
Flattr is a micro-payment system based on voluntary donations. More info here.

SUPPORT

I'd like to link back to one specific post, but all I ever see is the domain http://www.girlscanblog.org. What am I supposed to do?
Try entering the site via its Blogger URL http://girlsblogtoo.blogspot.com/. Like that, deeplinks shouldn't be a problem.

I think GIRLS CAN BLOG is a great idea! How can I support the project?

Support the project by suggesting suitable blogs, linking back to us, and by spreading the word. Whether by writing a post on your blog, on your Facebook or Twitter. If you've got your own interview questions for me, even better. I'm thankful in any case. ;)

Do you also give talks and speeches on blogging and stuff?
Yes. Please just get in touch.

And where did you say are you based?
I live in Berlin, Germany.

Ok, cool... So what's your email address again?
girlscanblog [at] googlemail [dot] com
