Stipends, Calls for Papers & Summer Schools

Again, I've collected quite a long list of interesting stipends, CFPs and summer schools. Follow the jump below for more information on programmes encouraging cultural dialogue between Germany and Africa and Eastern Europe respectively, and also for a CFP in Cultural Studies. If this sounds interesting, do also check my last collection of funded programmes - some of the deadlines mentioned then are still open and inviting applications.

Go Africa... Go Germany, a programme initiated by the German Federal Agency for Civic Education (BPB), is granting fellowships to students and young graduates from Germany and East Africa, enabling them to take part in a five-week seminar to be held from 14th to 29th August 2011 in Germany and in March 2012 in Kenya. Applicants should submit an essay on one of three given topics, their CV, and a letter of motivation in English before 15 March 2011. More info here.

* The editors of the OpenAccess-Journal Representations and Contexts, a transdisciplinary journal of international relations and cultural studies invite academics - both young and established - to mail in articles on a variety of topics. These include: Theory of International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, North-South Relations, Development Policy, International Cultural Relations, Gender Studies, Postcolonial Studies, "Other Modernities" or Diaspora Studies. Submissions should be strong on theoretical and methodical reflection, between 7.000 and 9.000 words long (including foot notes) and will be accepted in either German or English. There should also be an abstract of about 150 words as well as up to six keywords. Wissens-Werk, the plattform for OpenAccess publications, ensures the listing of publications in numerous data bases and and thus facilitates access to academic discourse. Articles should be mailed to herausgeber.rac [at] wissens-werk [dot] de.

* The Central European University in Budapest calls for applications to its annual summer school program "SUN", which covers a variety of topics. The courses are targeted at graduate students, junior or post-doctoral researchers, teachers and professionals and cost money.  Depending on where you come from, you might be eligible for financial assistance, though. More detailed information on course content and registration are available here. General application deadline is 15 February 2011.
