Calls for Papers, PhD Fellowships, Summer Schools

It's been a looooong time since my last list, so let's get started quickly and without any frills. Follow me beyond the jump for interesting research offers. Some of them are last minute, so hurry up! 

* VERY LAST MINUTE: The DFG Research Training Group "Risk and East Asia" at the University Duisburg-Essen, invites applications to its doctoral program from candidates with advanced language skills in Chinese or Japanese, and a strong MA (or equivalent) degree in Economics, Political Science, Sociology, and Geography or in social scientific East Asian Regional Studies. Seven doctoral fellowships will be awarded in 2011 for an initial one-year period of support, with a renewal option for a total three-year stipend. Application deadline is 15 March 2011 for admission in October 2011. More info here.

* LAST MINUTE: An der Universität Maastricht, Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences sind sechs Promotionsstellen ausgeschrieben (Beginn ab 1.9.2011). Es wird erwartet, dass Bewerber/innen ihre Projekte in Bezug zu einem der drei folgenden Forschungsschwerpunkte der Fakultät setzen: 1. European Administrative Governance, 2. Science, Technology and Society, including Globalization and Development, 3. Cultural Memory and Diversity. Das Anfangsgehalt beträgt 2.042,- €. Es besteht die Möglichkeit, zwischen einem dreijährigen Vertrag (ohne Lehre) und einem vierjährigen Vertrag (mit Mitwirkung in der Lehre) zu wählen. Bewerbungsschluss ist der 23. März 2011. * Call for applications for a PhD position on ‘The politics of regulating transnational investment flows in the context of growing financialisation: the EU bilateral agreements with the Global South’.
The project invites applications by doctoral students with a Masters degree in Political Sciences, particularly with a focus on International Political Economy (IPE), and/or International Economics and/or Economic Geography. An affiliation with critical theories is most certainly welcome. More details here. Deadline is 11 April 2011.

* The Center for Doctoral Studies in Social and Behavioral Sciences (CDSS) invites students of political science, psychology and sociology to apply for fifteen (!) PhD fellowships at the University of
Mannheim's Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS). The 2011 program starts in September, deadline for application is 15 April 2011. More information here.

* The University Centre St-Ignatius Antwerp (UCSIA), organizes a summer school on Religion and International Relations from end of August - beginning of September 2011. Participation and stay for young scholars and researchers are free of charge, but participants should pay for their own travel expenses to Antwerp. More info here. Deadline for all required application documents is 17 April 2011.

* „Minderheitenfrage“ und Gewalt im 20. Jahrhundert: Zweiwöchige Sommerakademie an der Leibniz Universität Hannover mit abwechslungsreichem Programm und vielen Experten (4. – 18. September 2011). Erforderliche Unterlagen zur Bewerbung: Bewerbungsformular, Motivationsschreiben, tabellarischer Lebenslauf, Empfehlungsschreiben. Von Studierenden einer ausländischen Institution wird ein Nachweis über deutsche und englische Sprachkenntnisse erbeten, dafur müssen sie anders als deutsche TeilnehmerInnen die 100€ Kursgebühr nicht bezahlen. Reisekosten werden auf Anfrage gemäß der Länderpauschalen des DAAD erstattet, für kostenlose Unterbringung in Hannover ist gesorgt. * Summer School on The European Decision-Making Process (4 - 16 July 2011, one week in Brussels, one week in Vienna). Organized by the Institute for European Studies and the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, aiming at students of international politics, European law or similar.  Further information and registration via summerschool@ies.be or this website. Application deadline: 20 April 2011.

* Two awards for Outstanding Research and Teaching on the Lisbon Treaty. The awards are endowed with 1.500 € each. More info here. Deadline is 22 April 2010.
The LISBOAN Erasmus Academic Network is calling for applications/nominations for two awards which are endowed with a prize of 1.500 € each.

* Noch lange hin, dafür lohnenswert:  CfP zum Thema "Mehr Alte – wenige Junge: Wo ist eine Machtverschiebung zwischen den Generationen schon heute sichtbar und wie kann sie ausgeglichen werden?" Gesucht werden innovative Lösungsvorschläge, die das Potenzial haben, eine politische Debatte anzustoßen. Beiträge aus und zu anderen Staaten sind erwünscht. Die Ausschreibung richtet sich bevorzugt an junge WissenschaftlerInnen (bis 35 Jahre). Der Preis ist mit insgesamt 10.000€ dotiert. Die Arbeiten sind auf Deutsch oder Englisch einzureichen.
